Presentation Description:

A discussion on advancements in SLE management, disease state, and background on the treat to target approach with the aim of DORIS remission. This presentation will review DORIS remission, organ damage, and outcomes incorporating highlights from ACR SLE treatment guidelines for management in real-world practice.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Gordon Lam, MD, FACR has 18 years of experience in rheumatology.  His position is Medical Director, Northern Region Research Center Clinical and Translational Research at Atrium Health Rheumatology. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. His clinical interests are in the inflammatory arthritides (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, etc.) and lupus.  He has years of clinical and translations research with various institutions, including Princeton University, Duke University, the National Institutes of Health, the Arthritis Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Atrium Health.  He has participated in several clinical trials, and has numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts.

Dr Lam has received several awards including Top Care Provider at Atrium Health, Patient’s Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award, and Top 10 Doctor Award for both the Charlotte Metropolitan Region and North Carolina.

Dr Lam obtained his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine, where he also completed his internal medicine residency.  He served his rheumatology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and was an invited House Officer at the University of Oxford.
